Academic — Madsen Consulting Engineering

Erik Madsen has been involved in academia for the last decade. At New York Institute of Technology, New York City College of Technology, and Pratt Institute, he taught engineering classes to architect and construction management students. Erik currently teaches a course on the structural portion of the New York City building code at NYU School of Professional Studies, as well as a renovation course which is one of the most popular and intellectually rigorous courses in the continuing education department.

In addition to academics, Erik co-curated the Make It Work. Engineering Possibilities exhibit at the New York Center for Architecture. For the last 13 years, he has been an active member of Structural Engineering Association of New York (SEAoNY), holding positions such as Publications Advisor, Chair of the Programs Committee, and Board of Directors Member. Erik is currently the national delegate for the state of New York for SEAoNY, and is also on both SEAoNY's and NCSEA's code advisory committee. He recently taught a seminar for SEAoNY on the changes to the IBC 2018.

Cristian Vimer holds a PhD in Structural Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of NYU, and a MS from the Technical University of Civil Engineering, Bucharest, Romania. His doctoral thesis, NIR Fiber Optic Spectroscopy for Evaluation of Civil Engineering Materials, was very well received by the scientific community. He published several articles in prestigious journals such as Cement and Concrete Research, ASCE Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, NDT&E International. He continues to collaborate with NYU Poly on developing sensing solutions for the infrastructures.  Some of his selected works are below:
